dns namecheap setup

What you are configuring

  • Record type: CNAME
  • Host: blog (or the subdomain you entered in BlogPath; keep other records for your root site)
  • Value/Target: proxy.blogpath.io
  • TTL: Automatic

Steps in Namecheap (Default Nameservers)

  1. Sign in → Domain List → click Manage for your domain.
  2. Go to the Advanced DNS tab.
  3. In Host Records, click Add New Record.
  4. Type: CNAME Record.
  5. Host: blog (or your chosen hostname).
  6. Value: proxy.blogpath.io.
  7. TTL: Automatic.
  8. Click the green check to save.

If you use Namecheap BasicDNS for the apex

Namecheap does not support CNAME at apex. Keep your apex A/ALIAS for the main site. Only point the blog hostname to BlogPath. In BlogPath, set the fallback origin to your main site so traffic to / still reaches it.

Verify

After saving, go to BlogPath → DNS checkVerify. Propagation on Namecheap usually takes 5–10 minutes. If verification fails, confirm there is no older A record for the same host (blog) still present.
